Aged and Disabled Waiver Program (ADW) is a long-term care alternative that provides
services that enable an individual to remain at or return home rater than receiving nursing home
care.

The care may be directed by a case management agency or the individual himself. The individual must meet certain medical criteria, as well as the financial requirements listed below. Some assets of a couple are protected for the spouse who does not need nursing home or home and community based care and these assets are not counted to determine eligibility for the individual who needs care in the home.

According to the WV Medicaid Aged and Disabled Waiver program guidelines, in order to be determined medically eligible for the program you must be deficient in at least 5 of 13 critical areas. The critical areas are as follows:
